Becker Farm Engagement Session

YAY! My blog/website is up! You have no idea how relieved I am today. I ended up losing a few blog posts and some settings but hey..it’s up!!! We should have no more issues with my site after this! So in honor of that I wanted to share this AMAZING engagement session. When Lindsay, her mom, and I met at Starbucks to discuss her wedding…I just knew we would be a great fit. We are very similar in taste, style, and also humor. I also loved joking around with her mom as well (can’t wait for the wedding!!)! It was just meant to be. So when she officially booked me for her wedding..I was SO excited!

This engagement session was at Becker Farms. We timed this session perfectly so that we would get the beautiful apple blossoms..or at least we tried! This year things bloomed slightly later than usual due to the weather so we pushed the session back a few weeks. I was absolutely thrilled when we arrived and everything was in full bloom!

We started off with setting up a shabby chic picnic in the orchard then we wandered through the orchard climbing trees and laughing..lots of laughing.  But before we get to that…the bling:

Huffington Post Wedding Feature

2014-02-05_0001I had the most random and funny thing happen to me last week! Apparently one of the groomsman from a wedding I photographed two summers ago posted a picture to Reddit. Somehow a writer from the Huffington Post saw it and wanted to feature it. So a few days ago I got an email from the Huffington Post about using my photo for this feature. Honestly I thought it was hilarious. This groomsman was making jokes the whole time about the fact that he had to be “alone” in some of the shots. So of course I said yes and sent a few more pictures. Anyways here is a link to the full article titled “This Dude is the Saddest Little Groomsman We Ever Did See” …so funny!

Jessica & Aaron’s Winter Wedding

2014-01-31_0038This was such a beautiful wedding! Jessica is a friend that I have had since high school, and she actually helped me out a TON while planning my wedding. So it was such an honor to photograph her wedding. The weather worked out perfectly and we were able to get those beautiful winter portraits without absolutely freezing. Jessica did an amazing job of styling this wedding from her elegant dress to her unique winter bouquet. Aaron is a great man and is obviously so in love with Jessica. When he said his vows it was so obvious that they were from his heart. I know they going to have a wonderful life together and they are so great together. The getting ready pictures took place in Aaron’s parent’s house which is a perfect backdrop for a winter wedding. Absolutely gorgeous.

I wish you the absolutely best and blessings for your life together!

Emma & Alex’s Red and White Winter Wedding

2014-01-23_0047This wedding was especially dear to my heart. The groom is my brother in law and the bride is now my sister in law as well! These two are really just made for each other. I actually got to be part of setting them up on their first blind date. Micah and I went on a double date with them. After the “date” I remember telling Alex that I think on paper she is the perfect woman for him. She is everything that he had been looking for. They began spending time together it was obvious they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. I love that when you just meet two people and its so obvious they are great together. Not only that but anyone who is with them for more than 5 minutes know that these two are absolutely smitten with one another.

Emma and Alex are very organized and they planned this day out perfectly. Everything ran so smoothly and everyone was so relaxed. They were just so excited to be getting married and it was obvious. One thing that really stuck out to me throughout the wedding is that both have really put their faith first and both are people of great character. That’s such an amazing foundation to build a relationship on and that’s what these two both have.  I am so happy for you two. I am sure you are going to have an amazing life together. I am so honored to have captured your special day!

Delaware Mansion Wedding Buffalo NY

2013-12-20_0040This wedding was classic and elegant. I have seen peacock themed weddings before but never like this. Rather than the traditional  teal and purple peacock…this bride went for classy black and red peacock. I loved it! I love how she incorporated feathers into this classic wedding. This wedding took place in the middle of November but honestly it didn’t feel like it. Typical weather for mid-November is freezing, windy, and sometimes snowing. This was one of the nicest days of that month. It was warm and had beautiful lighting. It was great for pictures. The pictures and reception were held at The Mansion on Delaware Avenue which is such a classy venue. The ceremony was held at St. Louis church in downtown Buffalo which is absolutely breathtaking. These two are obviously such a great match. It’s so evident that they truly care about one another and are going to have an amazing life together. They are both such positive people who are full of life and it’s so easy to see why they are together. They chose to do a first look and pictures beforehand since their ceremony was after dark. This just made for such a stress free day and were able to get some amazing pictures as well.

I wish you two the absolute best!!

USB drives, packaging, and a little about the process

This post is first of all to show my new packaging but second what that packaging really showed me about my business…and well, about me. I wanted to blog my packaging before I started sending it out, but I ran out of my old supplies so I was forced to use it beforehand. Anyways, so for a bit now I had been feeling like I needed to switch to USB drives for weddings. They are just more durable and CD’s are starting to become a bit outdated with the new computers (I know… already!!!). So I spent some time looking around Pinterest and around the internet trying to find some packaging that was “me” and that made financial sense for me too. I don’t want to LOSE money because I have to pay so much for my packaging. That just doesn’t make sense! So I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn’t find anything that really worked for my brand. Then it hit me. I can’t find anything because there aren’t any businesses exactly like mine or people exactly like me. Even if I found something close to what I would have wanted it..there are things I would have changed here or there. So instead I just starting finding bits and pieces that I liked and put them all together.

I think when you first start something…you start out trying to be as good as this person or like that business. Yes there will always be people you look up to..I follow so many photographers that I admire. But you will never be them. So there comes a point when instead of scouring the internet for inspiration and look to other people..you start to think about what you personally would want and use your own inspiration. You realize that you have so many ideas that maybe have never been done that exact way before.

So here is what I came up with. Packaging that is “me” and fits my brand. I’m proud of it because I’m pretty sure no one else has anything exactly like it and it just fits perfectly. After redoing my packaging I realized that I also I wanted to create a new header (at the very top of the page) and a new logo (coming soon!). So I decided to start just making my own and design things the way I would want to! I love all things beautiful and girly. I love romantic pictures and I want my whole brand to reflect my style.

And no…unfortunately I will not be giving out my grandmas pearls and a bouquet of peonies with every session. Those are just for the the pictures. 🙂

Pearl Street Brewery Buffalo Wedding

This wedding was a combination of romantic pinks, lace, and grey against a city background. I love the contrast of the two and how they seemed to fit together so perfectly. This wedding was the definition of a classy and elegant wedding. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her lace wedding dress and I just loved her pink heels. That’s a girl after my own heart. The adorable little flower girl LOVED the camera. She also had the funniest laugh ever and was cracking everyone up.

This church was absolutely stunning. I love the huge ceilings and chandeliers. If there was one theme that went throughout this day it was that Stephanie and Matthew are a great fit. I can’t count the number of times that I heard someone say how they really compliment each others personalities and are just a great match. There is definitely so much love and compatibility. It was a beautiful ceremony. 2013-11-12_00042013-11-11_00212013-11-11_0022 2013-11-11_0023 Unfortunately it was pouring and cold by the time we were about to do pictures. But it didn’t matter we went to the Historical Society and we were able to get some gorgeous pictures. We were even able to do a few outside underneath a covered porch. I honestly kind of love wedding pictures with umbrellas! 2013-11-11_0026 2013-11-11_00272013-11-11_0028 2013-11-11_0029 2013-11-12_00022013-11-11_0031 2013-11-11_0032 2013-11-11_0033 2013-11-11_00352013-11-11_0036 2013-11-11_0037 This picture below is probably my favorite from the day..so romantic!2013-11-11_0040 The reception was at Pearl Street and it never disappoints! The food was delicious and I love all the details around the reception. 2013-11-11_00392013-11-11_00412013-11-11_0042 We stepped out on the covered patio to get a few of the city lights at night in the rain. The one below of them kissing is another one of my absolute favorites of the day. 2013-11-11_0043 2013-11-11_0044This was an absolutely perfect day. I had so much fun photographing this wedding! I feel so honored to get to capture the most special day of people’s lives. You two are so great together and I wish you absolutely happiness together!

Joleen & Brett’s Rustic Fall Wedding

This wedding was country, rustic, classy, and just perfect for this couple. I love how it they really represented their style. It was casual and relaxed but at the same time very elegant. There was some time before the ceremony to do some bridal portraits outside on the front porch. It’s rare that there is time for that, but I love it when we do! Joleen looked stunning and we were able to get some gorgeous pictures. The groomsman wore jeans with vests..that is so them! The boutonniere’s were made from bullets which is so creative. I love how down to earth these two are and it’s obvious they have a great relationship. I remember during the first dance they were honestly staring into each other’s eyes and it was so sweet. I almost felt like I shouldn’t be watching. Like I was peering into their private moment. I love that. For the reception they set up a big tent near a camp. I mean how perfect is that?!? This was such an amazing day. I hope you two have a wonderful life together!
